There’s a lot of news about the two newest MediaTek chipsets- Dimensity 8100 and Dimensity 8000. But you must be wondering how both of these chipsets are different from each other, right?

Don’t worry, in this post I would be covering all the similarities and even contrasts of both the chipsets. Without any further ado, let’s get straight into the topic.

Processor Architecture

Both chips are made on 5 nm manufacturing processors that have nearly identical functionality. The 8100, on either side, is a victor and also has faster clock frequencies. There’s also the Dimensity 1300, and that’s an incremental improvement over the 1200 chip.

Core Built-Up

Four large Cortex-A78 CPU cores and four small A55 CPU cores are found on the two 8000 series chips. The Dimensity 8000 has 4x Cortex-A78 (2.75 GHz) and 4x Cortex-A55 (2.0 GHz) CPU cores, whilst the Dimensity 8100 has 4x Cortex-A78 (2.85 GHz) and 4x Cortex-A55 (2.0 GHz) cores.

Similar Graphics Processor

The graphics processor is an ARM Mali-G610 MC6, which is based on the industry’s most modern Graphics processors. The GPU speed of the Dimensity 8100 would be 20% faster than that of the 8000. The 8100 scored 170 frames per second in GFXBench Manhattan (offscreen), whereas the 8000 earned 140 fps.

Display Contrasts

The MiraVision 780 is included in both CPUs and enables a 168 Hz refresh rate at FHD+ resolution. The 8100 chip is remarkable in how it can display 120Hz at the WQHD+ panel. Both are equipped with 4K AV1 video decoders and HDR10+ Adaptive (which adjusts HDR10+ footage to varying illumination conditions).

The Imagiq 780 ISP can capture HDR video from two cameras concurrently at 5 gigapixels per second, as well as 4K 60 fps HDR10+

Similar 5G Implementations

3GPP Release 16 5G modems with two carrier aggregations for up to 200 MHz of bandwidth are included in each mobile chip. This offers download speeds of up to 4.7 Gigabits per second. Dual SIM and Dual Standby are supported by the modem.

During the first quarter of 2022, devices with Dimensity 1300, 8000, or 8100 embedded processors would be released, so anticipate a rush of releases in March by “a few of the country’s greatest phone manufacturers.

Conclusion-

Although, both Dimensity 8100 and 8000 chipsets are almost the same in the architecture and have similar specifications of course the superior chipset would be the all-new Dimensity 8100 that offers more power and capabilities than the Dimensity 8000. I’m super excited for all the incoming smartphones that are to be powered by Dimensity 8100. Ain’t you guys excited?
